What a fantastic day! On December 5th, our Paxman Library committee was invited to celebrate the official relaunch of the Colchester Library.
It was an event filled with creativity, music, and community spirit. Here are some of the highlights:
🎭 Special Guest Performances
We were treated to captivating performances by Alice D’Lumiere and the renowned "Punk Poet" Dr. John Cooper Clarke.
A truly beautiful addition to the day was the singing by the talented students from Gosbecks Primary School, which set a wonderful tone for the celebrations.
🎨 Art & Innovation
We spent time exploring an incredible exhibition of typewriter art by James Cook. His intricate architectural pieces, such as the Statue of Liberty and St. Paul's Cathedral, were a huge hit with our committee and we will be looking to create some of our own.
Our members also tested out the library's new study pods and dived into the impressive collection of Graphic Novels and Manga.
🤝 Community Connections
From meeting the Town Crier to exploring the historic archives, it was a day to remember.
The team even had some fun with the new "Colchester Library" photo frame to mark the occasion!
We have returned to Paxman Academy feeling very inspired by everything we saw. Congratulations to the Colchester Library team on such a successful relaunch!

What a heart warming day!
Our wonderful SEND team and 12 students had an unforgettable visit to Cheviot Nursing Home yesterday to share some Christmas cheer with the residents! 🎄
It was an honour for our students to meet the residents and personally deliver the 30 Christmas gift bags. The smiles on everyone's faces—residents and students alike—truly captured the spirit of giving and connection.
A massive thank you once again to our generous students and staff whose donations made this meaningful outreach possible. Seeing this project come to life and the joy it brought is truly rewarding!

💖 Spreading Christmas Joy in the Community! 💖
We are so proud of our SEND team and 12 amazing students who are getting ready for a special trip today!
They will be visiting the residents at Cheviot Nursing Home to deliver a festive gift to all 30 residents.
Each thoughtfully put-together bag contains a selection box, cosy fluffy socks, a satsuma, and a comforting hot chocolate sachet. 🍫🍊🧦

A huge congratulations to our Year 9 Maths Olympiad team for their incredible success!
They have officially won the North Essex Maths Olympiad, beating teams from across the region. Their dedication and skill in tackling complex problems truly paid off.

Paxman Academy Kicks Off Young Poets Week!
Today, some of our students joined the exciting online KS3 masterclass, helping us kickstart Young Poets Week with fantastic inspiration!
Our students had the chance to learn directly from inspirational programme ambassadors: the incredible poet Nikita Gill and the dynamic hip-hop artist Karl Nova.
In the interactive session, they shared brilliant tips on:
- Sparking new ideas.
- Experimenting with language.
- Shaping writing into poetic form.
We hope our young poets at Paxman Academy are now feeling inspired to fill their journals with new verse!
