Paxman Academy Kicks Off Young Poets Week!
Today, some of our students joined the exciting online KS3 masterclass, helping us kickstart Young Poets Week with fantastic inspiration!
Our students had the chance to learn directly from inspirational programme ambassadors: the incredible poet Nikita Gill and the dynamic hip-hop artist Karl Nova.
In the interactive session, they shared brilliant tips on:
- Sparking new ideas.
- Experimenting with language.
- Shaping writing into poetic form.
We hope our young poets at Paxman Academy are now feeling inspired to fill their journals with new verse!

🌟 An inspirational day for Parliament Week!
A huge thank you to Sir Bob Russell for visiting Paxman Academy yesterday. Our students were captivated as he recounted his incredible career in public service, covering his time as a Councillor, MP, Mayor of Colchester, High Steward, and the story behind his knighthood.

Inspiring Our Future Leaders!
We were delighted to welcome Pam Cox MP to Paxman Academy this morning!
She spoke to our Year 7, 8, and 9 students, giving them a fantastic insight into politics and how decisions are made. Our students asked lots of thoughtful questions about the local area and what it's like to be an MP.

What an inspiring and resounding success our Annual Careers Fair was this October! 🌟
The atmosphere was buzzing as all our students, from the youngest to the oldest, had the invaluable opportunity to explore a vast landscape of post-school options.
We were delighted to host over 25 employers and education providers, representing a diverse range of industries and academic pathways. Students engaged in meaningful conversations, collecting information on everything from apprenticeships and vocational training to university degrees and high-demand career fields.
A huge thank you again to all the representatives who generously gave their time and expertise! Their presence made the day a success, offering our students the chance to network, ask questions, and genuinely start thinking about their future steps. This fair truly was a cornerstone in helping our students make informed and ambitious choices.

🌹 Lest We Forget 🌹
Today, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, our students gathered to observe the two-minute silence for Armistice Day.
We are incredibly proud of how superbly all students conducted themselves during the ceremony, showing deep respect and reflection as we remembered the sacrifices made by so many.
The students pictured represent various cadet forces and our academy, participating in the laying of the wreath and the formal ceremony.
We are thankful.
We will remember them.

We are truly thankful.
A huge thank you to everyone who provided poppies for this year’s Remembrance. The act of remembrance this year is centred around gratitude.
Dressing the webbing this evening, I had the privilege of reading each and every poppy. I was profoundly humbled by some of the beautiful words written by our students. They expressed thanks for their homes, for clean water, for their education, and for the sacrifice of those who went before us. It was a powerful reminder of how much we have to be grateful for.
